Throughout the day on September 17, our community came together to reflect on what it means to belong — to be seen, to have rights, and to finally have a place to call home.

This Citizenship Day, United Stateless lifted up the stories and voices of our members — each one a reminder of why citizenship matters, and why no one should ever be left without a country to call home.

It’s a powerful reflection of what we know to be true: that behind every policy and every headline are human beings — people who have waited years, even decades, to be recognized.

🗣️ Voices from Our Community

Throughout the day, members of our community shared what citizenship — or the lack of it — means to them:

“For decades, I lived without a country. Citizenship gave me a voice I thought I’d lost forever.”
“I can now vote, speak, engage — and be heard.”
“Citizenship isn’t just about rights. It’s also about the responsibility to care for our communities and fight for justice.”
“One day the world will see statelessness as an injustice we can end — together.”

These reflections remind us that belonging isn’t a privilege it’s a right. And it’s one too many are still waiting for.
